Drummer is definitely the star here. Seems most of the song direction is coming from him.

can you imagine how disappointing it would've been to have such an interesting drumming performance with limp-dicked production? Fortunately it sounds like they're being played by the god of thunder himself.
not a coincidence of course, obviously by design given how prominent the percussion is here

Man this is cool, love those eerie atmospheric passages like in "The Gaunt Sky".

I love that the guitar tone is absolutely disgusting yet the production on it (and everything else) is clear and balanced. Let's you actually hear just how disgusting the guitar tone is!
Also the synth/strings whatever that is in the first half of Hollows' is amazing.

One of the best this year for sure, it loses momentum a little towards the back end, but I’m coming around, I think.
First 2/3rds are incredible though, AOTY-level holy shit good. Absolutely nailed the disso-death sound in terms of both technical chops and atmosphere, and the production is sublime. The industrial / noise flourishes brought forward (maybe) from Flourishing are arguably even more seamlessly incorporated here, it just feels like part of the very fabric of this.

currently 5th for me behind Cult of Luna, YAYA KIM, Rolo and 40 Watt Sun (not counting Anna Von’s live album). It’s creeping up.

I swear the first 4/5 tracks on this are into the threshold classic domain. Last 3 are below them by a margin.

Yeah I agree with Frost, still not getting the vibes re the way this concludes. Dragged out a few sections with some unnecessary repetition on that closing pair in particular. Front heavy for sure.
Fortunately the 'front' is packing some seriously awesome music, so whatever.
