the all-knowing Orb's seal of approval has me feeling comfortable about this one's placement in my end of year stakes (spoiler: it gonna be high!). I've been revisiting this recently and its been hitting as hard as ever, really a masterful progression / reinvention. One of the most interesting and versatile black-metal adjacent releases I've ever heard. A lot of the traditional old school BM-like stuff bogs me down due to either constant repetition (i.e. monotony), or impenetrable production choices.
Atmo-black always has the potential to wow me, but I'm also often less than impressed with the song-writing choices.
tl;dr - this one nails it, feels like exactly the sort of progression I wanted from this band and the scene in general
