The drums and bassline on TT is incredible, so yeah, I'll give you that. But "There is a light that never goes out" is perfect also.

I've always felt that this album is flawless in every possible way.

Watching gay paint dry has started to turn into beautiful painting. It takes a little while to get used to the vocals if you're not very into 80's music. (Born in 88)

glad to hear it dude. it does take a little getting used to for sure, but once you "get" Morrisey's style - you realize how brilliant he really was.

i love how he pairs pretty sick and twisted lyrics with his melancholy vocal delivery. i could certainly see Matt from The National citing Morrisey as an influence. they have similar appeal imo

But The National is painfully mediocre.

there is absolutely nothing about the national that sounds even remotely similar to the smiths.

Who says they're similar? Is that a thing? =O

They are totally different. That's crazy.

i think you can definitely hear some Morrisey influence in Matt's vocal style. again, they both go for a very melancholy sound and often pair that with some pretty sick and twisted lyrics.

going to have to agree to disagree. morrisey's lyrics are very bitter, sarcastic, and above all, ironic; matt's are pretty nonsensical and abstract. plus matt's voice (though i like it) is incredibly monotonous, whereas morrisey really projects his.

Why are two brilliant lyricists/vocalists being compared? Just let them stand side by side as brilliant lyricists/vocalists. Jesus Mohammed.

honestly, comparing them seems like an insult to morrissey, but that's just me.

oh man, agreed, Morrisey's lyrics are a billion tiimes better imo. i'm also not a huge fan of abstract lyrics in general... but i do think that Matt has some great one-liners.

Every song is the best song off the Album. So by that logic, every song is also the worst.
