I was wondering ‘since when did this have a review?’…

then I remembered it was getting the re-dux treatment.

Probably worth checking for Locust Reign alone.

Would've preferred the AN side included with this as well...

Love this redux... much more metallic sounding than the original, sounds far closer to Jane Doe than WFCC now

overkill (2)

still slaps, not sure if it’s actually better than the original material though tbh. More oomph, less soul. Fuck I don’t know, probably a net neutral… maybe.

(don’t) buy the ticket (don’t) take the ride

Am I the only person that’s kinda annoyed that they removed the samples?

I get maybe it has something to do with licensing or something but damn

As Lelle said, I do like the more pronounced vox on this, for sure makes it feel more Jane Doe / You Fail Me ish than their earlier stuff where the vocals always felt buried to me. The bass tone was better on the OG though, and yeeee I do miss the Depp sample.

yeah i kinda hate when stuff like this gets reissued or remastered with artists missing, fair enough if it were part of a bigger compilation but releasing it on it's own without half the tracks is not interesting to me

having said that with the various rights issues and extra parties that would need to be involved its understandable

I agree that it would've been better to have included the AN tracks, it does feel like an incomplete experience without having to skip them entirely.

That's how I feel about the You Fail Me Redux, but I think this one is great, it fixes every single thing I disliked about the original haha:

- It removes the stupid, melodramatic samples.

- It fixes the vocals sounding completely muffled and buried under the instrumentals like they were recorded through a pillow.

- It removes the ANB tracks so I can listen to my Converge in peace without having to skip half the tracks on the record or have some other shitty band intrude on the experience.

- It just gives the sound more punch overall.
