I'd have saved you, but you said that I don't really care for you!

So many good hooks in this thing

Like if Joanna Newsom did drunken karaoke in Nashville…which admittedly makes this sound like it could be amazing…but it’s just really fatiguing for me to listen to with no payoff

Sort of get it though

Also not putting Best Knew Music as the review summary was criminal

I usually prefer the verses to the choruses here

The strained chorus singing can put the drowning CAT in CMAT

It's the one I've listened to most yeah, and it has the most agreeable chorus :D

I know it's sort of the point and the tongue in cheek vibe but I do find her voice a bit too affected for my tastes, plus it even runs away from her a few times when the compositions get a bit unwieldy

Faint praise incoming - for me not to dislike this means it is pretty well made and written

That’s all fair. I would have predicted 2.5-3 for you on this -partly why I didn’t bother to rec it

Get some Joanna Newsom vibes as well, but that quirkiness is a big part of what I loved about this. In addition to the stellar lyrics ofc

This gal's voice really grows on you.

To be fair she sounds like she'd be a lot of fun to have as a teacher if I was a kid.

Doof, I half-expected you to hate this, so that 2.5 is a victory as far as I'm concerned

I just spent seven hours looking at old pics of me

Tryna pinpoint where the bitch began

Somewhere after the Passion of Christ

And before I had an Instagram

It'd be hard to pick a favorite here, but that's certainly up there.

Random thought: "I Wanna Be a Cowboy, Baby" reminds me quite a bit of Drive-By Truckers somehow. I feel like they would do an awesome cover of that.

I keep scanning the chorus of ‘Teenage Dirtbag’ to ‘Cowboy, Baby’ and am relieved that at least my mind isn’t switching it with that Kid Rock song about cowboys

I see rodents at the foot of my bed

In the morning light when the sun is red

And I don't know what that means but it's coming true…

“I Wanna Be a Cowboy Baby” is becoming a SOTY contender. Considering bumping my album rating too.
