This might be good but I had to 1 for the album title, same as sitarhero

I'm gonna assume the meaning is what deathofasalesman said "double entendre? "if my wife [is] new" and "if my [current] wife knew"
My other interpretation is that most folks who do something that constitutes saying "If my wife knew I'd be dead" probably wouldn't have the best grammar
Also @Boney I can find this new stuff, but you know deep catalogue country a whole lot better than I do. There's room for more than one Country Enthusiast in this town!

i kind of assumed the same (first one) but i still think it looks dumb regardless lol. fr though this is actually rly good. i love love love nashville

Wow, really? I've listened to the songs I can find and it sounds terrible. Her voice grates. I'd rather hear a new Camera Obscura album instead.

Nashville is such a great song

That’s a fair point Mathias, though even my deep catalogue knowledge starts drying up somewhere around 1985

i reckon the title is poking fun at the mental fortitude of blokey adulterers
also this is really fun! great review mathias

not even adulterers even, but just the sort of wink-wink nudge-nudge beer-carpet wot the wife don't know kind of pub humour

The closer is nice but it's Nashville I can't stop returning to. Gorgeous track

Yeah @anat that is definitely the voice I read the title in. Happy you like it!
Nashville is my go to as well, but the closer hits so hard cause it’s such a straightforward song compared to the rest. Not a song that I dislike here

my favourite is no more virgos, followed closely by I wanna be a cowboy baby

her vocal inflection on the chorus of "I Don't Really Care For You" melts me. i haven't gotten through a full listen yet but this is damn wonderful

In a just world this album 100% would make her a superstar

So yeah on second listen this is kind of incredible, easily some of the best country to come out in the last several years and maybe my favorite non-American country ever (no that that’s a huge pool, but still)??
If I have a slight overall criticism it’s that a good handful of the songs repeat the chorus one too many times and that ends up drawing the track lengths and the overall album length out a tiny bit long (not that 52 minutes is all that long in the grand scheme but in the realm of country it’s on the long side), but man these choruses are so good that it’s hard to complain about that.
