'new one is too heavy on the pop cultures refs and has some irritating melodies' (2)
Honestly, some of 'Crazymad' is straight-up irritating, her voice on 'Where Are Your Kids' is grating (didn't have this problem here) and I'm not enjoying the instrumentals as much.
'oh nooooooo a country singer made a slightly pop-leaning followup im soooo betrayed'
And I definitely don't care about country, in fact her poppier bent here is a big part of the appeal. It's already a fairly contemporary take on country, rather than anything that panders to the genre's more traditional roots from where I'm sitting. Did she need to take it even further away from those infleunces? Well, opinions may vary. I'm just not as in love with the arrangements and the hooks aren't always hitting home.
