It's not that it doesnt riff.... it's just not very good. Which the avg rating reflects this could drop to a 2.9 any day. Enjoy your trash 2.9 album I guess lol "dont no why you keep using tool as a insult btw alot of ppl here like tool" way more than this it seems.

Hey Dweebs, do you think this was in any way inspired by Naked City's 'Absinthe'?
I mean the extreme music band doing some chill but haunting and spacey ambient thing is definitely ongoing in both...
'H418ov21.C' by Beherit would be a similar example but the ambience is kind of different. less free floating, but it's a great album too

'Props for naming an album after a Scar Symmetry song'... what if it's actually named after this, in a epic metal ref paradox love-in, rendered even more amusing by the ambientalness of it all

"do you think this was in any way inspired by Naked City's 'Absinthe'?"
doubt it. I see the thread you’re drawing there, but the intent of this record is simple and obvious imo. cosmic death metal band makes an ambient record in the style of, and with the same technical approach (fm synthesis, moogs, etc) as bands like tangerine dream and other groups from that era that have a clear influence on the cosmic death metal movement in aesthetic and sound
some people may find that pompous or something but i think a band exploring their influences in this way is inspiring. their next dm record is gonna kick serious butt and them doing the timewave zero album will be one of the reasons why

Yeah, agree that tangerine dream et al. are more likely influences on this one.

If you watch the episode of What’s In My Bag featuring these dudes a ton of the shit they buy is trancey and prog electronic stuff so yea they’re not hiding their influences at all lol. One dude also buys Formulas Fatal to the Flesh so he’s based, best Morbid Angel album

Wait... So this thing is still going on? LOL
This isn't on my list for a reason. It's not bad. It just isn't any good.
I listened to this once, and now it's collecting dust.
