Had to bump this a little, still my favorite pop album this year.
(Awaiting Johnny's roasting about not listening to enough pop this year)

Considering all the s^^t american pop that is horribly overrated on this site, Aurora is not talked enough
can´t think of a better disc for pop this year, maybe Florence / Regina are on a similar wave, what else has come out I might have missed?

this did not stick with me in the slightest, will give it another skim soon but it's looking like an imminent rating drop otherwise. this site has certainly overhyped more than its fair share of US garbo, but I'm not convinced this has either the pizazz or originality to offer a good counterpoint

Johnny I didn´t mean Aurora´s disc in 2k22 is not talked enough, but generally aurora as an artist. but sput has had its fixation with just some specific pop artists, and not enough with others, as I might have said it already some other times pop seems to be way more "subjective" and "following the wave/trend" also on critic fanzines than other genressz. we have sputcore and sputpop stans and it´s fine I guess lol
I think she has an obvious alluring persona, and I appreciate her artistic output, it comes off more genuine than some other stuff. the KEXP videos are fucking hilarious.

Well Johnny your preference for Asian pop is evident, so I am not surprised this doesn't stick with you. It's also different to judge this without considering US pop vs. Europop as entorely different things. I'd say, as Europop goes, this is easily the best album that has come out this year imo.

Idk this isn't THAT different from American pop

Kinda struck me as like a somewhat more radio-friendly amalgamation of a bunch of art pop gals over the past 15-20 years; at least as much St. Vincent influence here as any European artist

"It's also different to judge this without considering US pop vs. Europop as entorely different things"
ily Dewi but there is absolutely no need to lean on generalised pigeonholing to prop up this album's case. it interpolates artists from well out of europop (Lorde, Nancy Sinatra and Florence + the Machine immediately spring to mind) and dips into trends that have had an international scope for a decade-and-going now (selective use of 80s styled percussion, selective baroque overtones, reclaiming new age). i could imagine hearing This Could Be A Dream's chorus from anyone from Taylor Swift to Imogen Heap to Faye Wong. that's no detraction in itself, but it does chime with my main reservation of how this dips its toes into a wide range of palettes without commanding much of an overarching voice (including Aurora's own, which is pleasant but a little on the innocuous side imo)

in short, this
"I didn´t mean Aurora´s disc in 2k22 is not talked enough, but generally aurora as an artist."
This is fair though - she's defs underrepresented here compared to her wider platform + success
