i got this cd when i heard mr. brightside. I never liked "somebody told me", i felt i got way too anoying. Their a decent group, but definately not worth all the hype they get. "jenny was a friend of mine", "all these things ive done", and "andy your a star" were my only "real" favorites. I could never get past track 7 on the cd because everything from there on seemed to go on forever, not saying that their bad, they just didnt fit my taste. needless to say, i fell asleep listening to it, and i normally dont do that no matter how bad the cd is, and theres been some bad ones (good charlotte (it was a long time ago)). anywho, Like med57 said, its not a masterpiece, but if your looking for something new and different, then this is your cd. Good review too.

This is a good album that definately has some very good tracks on it, but a couple of them aren't really as good as some of the others. All These Things I've Done can be found on Daewon Song's part of Almost Round 3 for all you skaters out there, and it works terribly well.

I can't really think who to compare guys to, but all the same it's a good cd that is just let down a bit by a couple of tracks. Get it

I'm sorry but this band drives me up the wall, I'd even go so far to rate this a 0, but I really do like that new single (until it gets overplayed).

This is under indie pop not pop because there is a clear difference between this and Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, The Backstreet Boys, and t.a.t.u, all of whom are in the pop section here.

Indie pop doesn't mean "independent" anymore. Don't get in a huff.

I heard many good things about this cd. When I bought it, i was disapointed. I just don't see what's so great about this album...

I saw them on Austin City Limits last night, and they were a lot better than what I expected them to be. The only downside was Brandon Flowers' singing, which was kind of dry and out of place, but the band itself was very energetic. They even had a choir come out for "All These Things That I've Done", and they sang along with Brandon during the "You've gotta help me outa, yeeeeeeah" section too.

It was .

Solid first album. 'nuff said.

If you think this is a bad album, go listen to Hawthorne Heights and then tell me who's a bad band. This Message Edited On 12.18.05

I deem this band the most overrated, arrogant and dreadfully dull band of 2005. Only a few good songs here, I can't fathom how anyone can like Somebody Told Me.

Smiths influence?Madness

this album is influenced by tons of bands but definitely not the smiths.

If anything the band mostly resembles A flock of seagulls;hear me out,the gulls put out 3 of the greatest songs of the 80s with "i ran","space age love song",and "wishing".Which makes the album cool for the time being...

smiths influence?you mean the lyrics?jesus h christ, theres not enough room or time to explain the impact morriseys had on conventional songwriting.

as for the album, like the aforementioned seagulls they have 3 classic songs-brightside,somebody and smile. The rest of the album is indicative of The Ipod/ringtone Music Appreciation society, along with bands like Jet,modest mouse, strokes and others.

the killers do have the knack(pun intended) for hooks and structure but the rest of the album is not going to hang around long.

If theres an album it can be compared to its the Darkness permission album. That cd had tons of influences that were improved on,yet that album is a cherished classic and ranks with the best albums of all time of its genre, like by T.Rex,Bowie and Queen, wait queen put out crappy albums, queen's greatest hits
