While Berserk isn't my favorite it is still a literary masterpiece for me
One of those picks I don't argue against when people choose it as their number one

Berserk coming back is easily the best thing that's happened in a year.
So goddamn excited.

Will read the entire thing when it's finished, if it finishes.
Will read nothing of it until then.

i just hope they dont give it some dumbass sitcom ending where everyone walks off into the sunset holding hands, all things resolved

Miura apparently shared the entire story with his best friend who's supervising studio gaga in the rest of the content, and he's had the ending planned for decades. As long as they honor Miura's vision, it's going to be sick.

I'm finally reading the manga, up to volume 9 atm, this shits way darker than the anime. I always wanted to know what happens after the eclipse but that anime show that was supposed to be a continuation of the OG show/movies was so bad I couldn't get past the 3rd episode. It's too bad that the individual volumes for Berserk are more expensive than the average manga volume, from vol. 10 onward I'll go for the deluxe editions and I hope they're as good as the Blame! DEs, those were perfect.

I can respect this, I was following Vagabond and the series has been on hiatus for what seems like forever, got all 12 vizbig volumes and they're always a pleasant read but it does leave me asking for the rest of the story and I don't know if I'll ever get it

Definitely pass on the 2016 anime. It skips an entire sub-arc (Lost Children-one of the better parts of the series), and the quality of the art and sound design kinda speak for themselves. You also can't go wrong with the deluxe editions for collecting. The artwork gets absolutely insane during the Conviction arc, and there's a dramatic leap in quality and the amount of two-page spreads in Falcon of the Millennium Empire, which makes the investment more than worth it.

here's hoping miura's work is finished with respect to his wishes!

Nah, the anime is unwatchable for someone like me. I appreciate good artwork, which is non-existent in that show. I'll order a couple of Berserk DEs next month, they look absolutely massive. I just hope the paper is good, there was a lot of see through in Alitas and Blame! DEs, definitely more noticeable on Alita. Vizbig editions are perfect and should be the standard imo

Yeah there are some really strange omissions even in the 97 anime that I feel like are absolutely pivotal to character development, but regardless it’s still fun to see it animated

No Skull Knight in the 97 anime is probably part of why it ended in the startling way that it did. It has the Guts/Griffith shower and bonfire of dreams though, and I'm happy that both adaptations removed the Wyald chapters.
