I think about it in terms like Full of Hell & The Body, Cult of Luna & JC, etc, I am sure they will continue the classic Converge timeline at some point. These things always bounce back.

I'm definitely more excited about the potential for Bloodmoon: II than 'core member Converge' at this point, which for someone who considers themselves a long-time fan, is a somewhat surprising development.

totally agreed. I’d rather have more of this but I’m down for more converge by numbers type shit

only recently realizing i actually love this band but yea i'll take either one

Either would be great, and we'll probably get both on a long enough timeline

check out torrential downpour if you want more mathcore madness, especially their 2020 EP

We’ll definitely get some more traditional converge down the line I think. But if we don’t I gotta give them the same cred I gave the last napalm death album. To be totally changing gears this deep in your career and just being creative… love to see it

I should listen to this. no idea what it's like. kind of expect it to be a constant onslaught/wall of sound? maybe listen today

its like post metally converge mixed with Cave In alt rock and Chelsea Wolfe goth rock.

yeah it is quite far from a 'constant onslaught/wall of sound'

I feel like Chelsea Wolfe was heavily underused on this project. Rather than coming across as an interesting collaboration where two groups come together and make something surprising or innovative, it just sounds like a Chelsea Wolfe album.
|
| |
wouldn't that make her overused ?

I'm not sure to be honest. In a weird way I think both groups didn't play to their strengths, so because neither lived up to what they could have created it feels like neither is playing to their strengths? I dunno dude I'm fuckin' tired haha.

I feel you, will have to suss it out myself !

does Wolfe's solo career include hxc / post-metal elements then? I don't see how anyone can say it sounds like a Chelsea Wolfe album. Not the first time this has been said either, bizarrely.
I do think this project could've done with MORE Wolfe, the other cleans (from Bannon/Brodsky and ?) are okay and don't necessarily detract from the experience, but are certainly the least interesting individual element at play here.

first two tracks just absolutely floored me. converge casually dropping the best post metal album of the year

Lingua Ignota would have been a better pairing for Converge imo. She's got more dynamics to her.

I'm pretty sure that's Chelsea doing the shrieks at the climax of the title track, so she's definitely capable of some strong dynamics (assuming that is her) had she chosen to do so. Maybe next time.

Hope so, she’s already one of my favorite vocalists but her performance on the title track is next level
