"Ultimately, Silk Sonic is too nice to be nasty and too famous to be useful. As a wedding band, they would absolutely kill."

good review

btw the Al Green comparison comes from the fact that i was getting in the mood with his stanky-faced jams today and was promptly deflated by the lack thereof present here

"idk but have you heard al green? i put him in my marvin gaye and friends playlist whenever I'm in that mood, yknow?"

I prefer hard hitting techno as bg music for that. Can you imagine rabbit fucking your girl to Marvin Gaye? I don't know seems kind of weird to me

I haven't gotten around to listen to this one yet but I've liked all the singles that I've heard so far.

Been really enjoying this (obviously) but the best thing about this is probably still that it made me revisit Black Messiah and 5 it

I don't think any of the 5s are under the impression this revolutionised the genre lmao. it's a Bruno Mars/Anderson Paak album, it does exactly what it says on the tin, and it's good at doing it. not every album needs to be a seminal generation-defining masterpiece

not every album is trying to be good. sometimes artists want to drop straight dookie right into your ears to torture you. respect the wishes of the artist and 2.0 it please

ok whatever the o r i g i n a l c l a i m was I'm clearly too smoothbrain to tease out its nuances but here's the counterclaim: shit is dumb, fun and doesn't overstay its welcome. it's literally exactly what any reasonable person was expecting a Mars/Paak collab to be. you voyagers of genre will have to look elsewhere for your progressive genre-defining odysseys, but this album will go down well in the real world
