This album really abuses the "whoosh" sound

This review says this sounds a lot like The Soft Bulletin, does that mean I wouldn't like The Soft Bulletin either?

This album is strong when it goes for the pretty side, but every time it tries to have that heavy harsher upbeat thing it just sounds boring, his vocals aren't really inviting and they sound awkward whenever that psych effect is on them

The strings are easily the best part of the album, but everything else doesn't grab my attention except for maybe the wrong reasons. I don't think there's much here for me to revisit

The closer is the closest thing to amazing on here, really lifts the album to a comfortable 3.0/5.0

Sorry, not my thing...

Somewhat understandable, I prefer this to soft bulletin however so take that as you will. What about miner at the dial a view that song rocks & jasons vocals sound perfectly blissful and carrying throughout the album - oh well, that's music for ya!

'Soft Bulletin' is way more maximalist and symphonic throughout so you might prefer it.

Ars I don't know why but for some reason I get really irritated when you give popular indie albums a 2.5 or 3 even if I haven't heard the album.

Ars is like a young Scaruffi, he's drawn to the most experimental stuff out there...to the point of being ever so slightly dismissive of other qualities. Have to respect his taste though, and it's very identifiable - I like to think I can identify an Ars album when I hear it.

The best song on here is Jed's Other Poem

But there are a lot of amazing songs on here

The first song, Jed the Humanoid, The Crystal Lake, Miner At The Dial-A-View

But really what makes this album 4.5 worthy is just the overall atmosphere it creates

'Weeping Willow' is perfect too
