I would describe it as darker rather than slower. It’s definitely less “fun” compared to their other albums but on the other hand one of their most sophisticated ones.

I heard Futures playing at a bar in Seattle. Was pretty neat, I'd never heard a non-Bleed American single from these guys anywhere

Sure but I was like 10 years old when it came out, I was listening to "soft rock and love songs on the coast" because my mom had control of the radio LOL. I didn't even start listening to (shitty) rock music until like 2008, and Pain did not have the staying power of "The Middle" or "Sweetness." Also, speaking of shit music I listened to in 2008, hi Observer. Fun fact, it was your review of Three Days Grace (aforementioned shitty music I used to listen to) that got me to create an account on this god forsaken website

^ that station (kost 103.5 in the LA area) turns into Christmas music after Thanksgiving. It's been 15 years and I still hate Christmas music because of over exposure as a young'un. RIP
@Mongi well I can't speak for it now, maybe in the last 10 years since I was a regular, this site found Jesus. Metaphorically speaking

sputnik is many things, but it has definitely changed the way i listen to music. This site and the shit its introduced me to, or influenced me to go find, keeps narrowing my focus and what i enjoy seems to becomes more specific. Im def more patient with my opinion and enjoy letting time affect my view of an album.
I used to listen to this album a lot but i just no longer have any desire to for whatever reason
|

What i can guess for a reason... I just hate the feelings and memories that this album gives me. As far as genre and style, I'm just not into this alt rock/pop punk sound and hanvent been for a while. Might change.

I feel ya on that Observer, though I had the opposite experience. I left Sputnik and I felt my relationship to music got way healthier but also less intense. Here music taste is social currency and people go out of their way to compete on it. Even 15 years ago, I recognized it was dumb but it still affected me as someone an impressionable teen. Once I left this site I ended up more empowered to listen to whatever fits my fancy without having to engage in that status jostling. But on the flip side, I probably listened to more records in 2012 than I did in the last 5 years, and found some stuff I really liked, so you win some you lose some. This is still the place I default to when I want to "discuss" music (even if that just means reading comments from people a decade ago).
Anyway, this album got me through my not-breakup last year but before that it had been years since I listened to it. I guess you never really know when an album will hit just the right way. Or maybe the days of listening to this are in the past for you, feel like that's fine too. It happens

EVERY. WORD. OF. THIS.
Except it was 2009/2010 instead of 2012 where I was listening to the most albums I ever listened to.
Also, this is my favorite Jimmy Eat World album, and one of the most influential albums of my college years.

oooh, I like where this went to.
Im curious to see how our "socio-status politics," or whatever is occuring amongst us, would change if the mods suddenly dropped the number rating system for every one of us, staff too, and the ratings all vanished.
