It’s not thematic, he really is that direct. About Covid...”And the problem here is overpopulation. Whether you believe nature is an entity or whatever, or it’s an organism with parasites on it, it’s retaliated in some form or another. If you want to take that figuratively or literally”
Bog standard eco-fash sentiment.

I feel like the part where your quote says ‘If you want to take that figuratively or literally’ makes that not direct

yeah but i think you have to take that statement amongst the whole body of work it comes from - when it also goes into themes like consumption, war, philosophy, it's a more meaningful statement when given context. it's trying to convey something using several themes and ideas and that's just one of them.

back in my day COF only sang about vampire tiddies

Also if I’m making a bold eco statement I’m probably not using extreme metal or an album cover with demon ants fucking and killing naked humans on it to do so
|

this album isn't about vampire tiddies?
how am I to cope with my futile existence?
I WANT ANSWERS

Existence without vampire tiddies is futile. That’s the concept here as I see it.

This could genuinely be a five. Never thought I’d feel that for any Cradle less than 18 years old

absolutely blows my mind that 30 years into the career of a band named cradle of filth you’ve still got humorless chuds on the internet that simply cannot comprehend how to consume media with any sense of context or nuance.
wanna take a guess at how many metal songs about depopulation exist?

i just assume they are 15 and move on

“I feel like the part where your quote says ‘If you want to take that figuratively or literally’ makes that not direct”
He was referencing Covid with the ‘figuratively or literally’ comment, not his utterly stupid comments about overpopulation.
“Also if I’m making a bold eco statement I’m probably not using extreme metal or an album cover with demon ants fucking and killing naked humans on it to do so”
He’s not making a bold eco statement, he’s appealing to reactionary Malthusian shite.
Hyperion, if that’s the best you have to contribute to this, why don’t you log off for a while. ‘Humourless chud’; the irony. Tell me what ‘context” and ‘nuance’ you’re using to consume this media, then? All I see is whining from you.
The myth of overpopulation is a deeply racist one and just because they look like clowns, it doesn’t make it any less so.

Yeah I mean this is a Cradle of Filth thread, is it not? Leave your up-tight political bullsh*t at the door.

Maybe we just have not found the right way to speak with them yet. I mean they have a very prominent Arrival avatar there.
