Maybe it's the overdramatic in me, but I absolutely adore the grandeur of Invading, and the whole album, honestly

Same here, I've always been about the epic stuff though

Ditto! The epicness is a core part of the album's sound too. Invading would sound way worse if the grand stuff was toned down

Totally agree. A lot of these songs couldn't have lent themselves in too many other directions, but the prog-emo sound works wonders here. Reminds me a little bit of Circa Survive.

It’s absolutely the best thing they’ve done for me at least. I know people love their debut a lot more at this point.

I've actually never listened to anything beyond this album. They seem to have a damn good track record as far as LPs go, if the Sput ratings are any indication

I got into them with Harmlessness which is a bit folkier and definitely more post-rocky. It's more reserved than this but still very melodic and quite gorgeous. Always Foreign has some amazing tunes (Faker rules), but also more filler than I'm accustomed to from them. The debut is great but I don't have the emotional attachment to it that others seem to. I'd personally rank them as follows: Illusory Walls > Harmlessness > Whenever If Ever = Always Foreign

Noted! I'll probably check Harmlessness next, in that case

They are playing 2 new songs on their current tour that are going to be released on a split soon. The track they closed with was absolutely incredible

Yeah, Always Foreign was my gateway to them as well, now I love all four of their LPs

I had even seen them live prior to Always Foreign and like Venin just said, despite me theoretically loving them, I just didn't see it. And like Sunny, now I love all their work.
ALSO, I met Josh at the show the other day and he may have been one of the nicest band members I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He spent over 10 minutes just chatting with us right up until the opener was playing their final song.

we LOVE nice band members
i learned about them before even Whenever, If Ever and i thought they were cool but nothing i felt the need to listen to. I remember my friend wanted me to drive us to TCNJ to see them in my senior year of hs (around when everyone was getting their license and he didnt have is) and i was like ummmmm...i dont even think my mom will give me the car for somewhere an hour away. and i didnt care to persuade her.
fast forward to whenever January 10, 2014 dropped and i was hooked. (i might have heard and loved Getting Sodas before that but if anything, i was only listening to that). then when Harmlessness dropped I listened to like 6 songs, thought holy shit this is amazing, went out to do laundrey and came back to a broken laptop. didnt finish the album til around the end of that school year but that's when I became obsessed

Was going through a rough time after graduating college and was a bit lost in my first real job. Always Foreign was huge for me then.
