middle stretch of this thing is crazy full of holes

Album Rating: 5.0 | Sound Off
only ones you could be referring to are 04 Blank // Drone and 05 We Saw Birds through the Hole in the Ceiling, because everything else is fire
Also the above 2 songs are still great ;-)

Album Rating: 3.0
those two are most definitely offenders
Birds outro makes me want to delete distortion pedals from the emo toolkit forever

haha yeah...I know what you mean
still love the song though
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.2
blank // worker is the one that prevents this from being a 4.5 for me, just delete that whole song and the album would be a fair bit better
also hot take maybe, queen sophie is a great song but also kinda disrupts the album for me, should probs have been a standalone single or something

there are songs here that feel very progressive and elaborate that all fit together, and ones that are more like standard emo or slower ballads
I don't have any issue with the track ordering here though I think this thing's sense of flow is impeccable

Album Rating: 4.2
hmm yeah it's more the noticeable drops in quality between some songs that disrupts the flow i think (rather than just the slight changes in sound). like the beautifully smooth rubbermaid into the kinda awkwardly quirky blank // worker is v jarring

rubbermaid is a beaut, but I feel like the tradeoff in sound is kinda necessary (even if some moments sound quirky) otherwise everything would start to sound samey no? unless you do mean purely in terms of quality, which is subjective, so I can't/won't argue it :-)
|
| |
Album Rating: 4.2
yeah i do think the tradeoff is necessary, but blank // worker just isn't good enough imo. try playing through the album without b//w so rubbermaid straight into trouble; i feel like trouble changes it up enough to prevent homogeny while retaining the overall quality

Without actually playing it, I can hear it in my head and it sounds like it could be a legit transition. I love tweaking album tracklists so maybe I'll experiment later on, I just didn't try before because the 'blank' tracks never bothered me

Trouble could have been one of the best songs of the year but the transition back into the slow part is so jarring
