lol gotcha. dunno if you've heard this yet, but to my ears it compiles everything he did from ISAM to Long Stories in chronological order despite being all original. doesn't feel like a straight rehash or whatever, but as far as albums of new material go this is as close to a (worthwhile) greatest hits experience as you'll get -- that impression is the main line thru the rev, so i figured it deserved a summary spotlight rather than the usual pithy semi-sequitur

Pithy semi-sequitur affects millions of Americans every year

Talk to your doctor if you think you may be suffering from pithy semi-sequitur

I feel sorry for Amon Adonai Santos de Araujo Tobin, he's got progressively worse for more than a decade. This album with its cover is a strange reference to Bela Tarr's movie The Turin Horse too, considering the music sounds like a collection of SoundCloud demo tracks. I guess I've expected something more mature and ambiental. Dunno... can't bother, big dislike from me.

First couple tracks kinda sucked and seemed unnecessarily maximalist but then it started to strike a nice balance between his sound sculpture stuff and something a bit more bombastic. Sounds like he recycled sounds from Fear..., especially apparent on In a Valley Stood the Sun

Yeah this is cool you can hear recycled bits from Fear on pretty much every track

This is pretty sweet. Sounds like he took the better parts of his last two albums put them together and added more drums

Rise To Ashes might be the worst Amon Tobin song ever made

Might lower my rating for this quite a bit. I’m tempted to call it Tobins worst (non soundtrack) work. I like the idea of reusing themes and those moments are the highlights, and after the last two I welcomed back a more percussive Tobin, but the percussion is honestly the worst part of this album. The big heavy caveman rock drumming is so gross.

To me this actually represents his best work so far for the more diverse approach to songwriting and lack of the really annoying drum compression he overused since the 2000s.
