I'm not even pretending this is some artistic unveiling or anything, but it is way more fun than anything else I've heard this year. I just blast it and go nuts. There's always a place among my 4.5's for albums like that.

Big same. Check the new Low, would be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

I’d say the Turnstile is more obviously the ‘fun’ album of the year but this is also a good time

When they're at their best, a lot of their songs like nursery rhymes with electronic beats.

Knowing and Hummingbird Bomb are awesome. Rosary is cool too. Wish everything else was as good as those 3 tracks.

just had the most fucking ambivalenthysterical experience listening to this while trying to mark a stack of very candid homework essays about hiroshima bomb victims and world peace written in the kind of broken english that cannot be anything but utterly hilarious and i have realised that i am a monster but this album is big fun

don't make me quote from it

main problem with this so far is that it feels a little one-trick and maybe not quite as intense as it could be? bookends are on the right track, but the whole thing makes me wish this took more cues from, idk Lauren fkin Bousfield (Pika did u jam her)?

You HAVE TO see Sleigh Bells live. Regardless of your opinion on listening to the them at home, they CRUSH it live. Seriously - their art can't be properly enjoyed on headphones or big home speakers - you need a massive professional sound system in order to appreciate what they actually do with their art. They are not just making little pop songs with a rock edge - they are truly experimenting with what's possible in Noise/Pop. I've seen them 8 times now and they never fail to fully melt your face.

Sleigh Bells is my favorite band and they knock it out of the park with "Texis". I think it's by far their most cohesive and best album in years (since Reign of Terror). Give it a listen and GO THEM LIVE!

i wonder what the morning of midwestpsych was like where they stumbled upon sputnik and realized they needed to create an account and evangelize sleigh bells in this thread
