AMOLAD is a nostalgic 5/5, probs still a very solid 4.5. Jammed Brighter Than A Thousand Suns the other day and shit is still sooooooo good.

gotta say, this is probs my least favorite of the reunion maiden so far with only 2 tracks left

I’m a fan of Maiden’s 21st century stuff but I’m pretty disappointed that pretty much every single song on this album is slow or midpaced at best. Book of Souls had a ton of energy and it was also made 40 years into their career
But it’s solid I suppose

The closer has some really good moments, The Parchment is an absolute slog.

these longer tracks feel too repetitive with not strong enough of a payoff. and at this point in their career they obviously aren't innovating much but it's more noticeable now than on the past 2 albums
the shorter ones are my faves with Stratego being 1. Days of Future Past and The Time Machine were real good. Senjutsu was a cool intro
|
| |
idk what The Parchment is doing, at least Death of The Celts had a nice intro and last few mins or so and i guess the in between was pleasant. for this one they should've scrapped the first 8 mins lmao

Yeah, I would give this a low 4 for sure. Enjoyed my first full listen.

wish Hell On Earth ended with the chorus again. definitely still the best track on here, really enjoyed that. very close to Where The Wild Wind Blows which i also love.
|
| |
oh my god, i think my solution for this is the same as Book of Souls which is cut the entire 2nd half minus the closer lmao.
Book of Souls is def much better than this doe

"Book of Souls is def much better than this doe"
from what I've checked, at least on the production aspect, it certainly is
|
| |
havent jammed yet
|

the shorter tracks on this are better than the shorter ones on Book of Souls doe so that's something

That's what i thought about the Parchment after the first couple of tries but it really grows on you. The long tracks would sound better if they weren't back to back
|
| |
i'll do a second full listen later.
the vocals feel especially lower than necessary in the title track and that sucks cuz it's really good. need a live recording asap
|
| |
Yeah I'll spin it throughout the week, I really enjoyed the mid-section tracks.

The last good album (GOOD, not great) was Brave New World. Maiden is just standard Heavy Metal. Nothing special. My favorite album is Piece of Mind.

Most songs could benefit from trimming. Take out Clansman Parody (aka Death of the Celts) and trim the others and we're just over an hour, so that would have been neat.
>Maiden is just standard Heavy Metal
No, Maiden defined the standards for NWOBHM, they aren't ''just another band''

Maiden is top tier heavy metal but they are a 4 at best since the '00s (which is A LOT for a band as old as this one)
|
| |
A lot has happened between Piece of Mind and this album, can't really expect the same band with almost 40 years or so on their backs and countless tours and records in between to have the same spark they used to have.
In these circumstances, in these times and on their age, this is a more than decent record.

Sounds like you should relisten to all their albums since Dance Of Death absolutely trumps BNW.
My favorite album is Piece of Mind.
Yup that explains it.
