Is Final Girl becoming my favourite Chvrches song ever? It's slowly creeping in.

Superb follow up to a bad album. They should never try other producers ever again.

Nothing rises above the level of "good" after Recover on Bones; it may have higher highs than Screen Violence but it also has lower lows.

Can't decide whether I prefer intermittent brilliance or consistent very goodness.

Is it me or is the bridge to Nightmare totally an homage to Carpenter's Halloween soundtrack?

This album being so good really caught me off guard.

this album was so pleasing. 2013 was one of my favourite years in music, so to see one of the bands dominating the scene back then return to form so strongly is just amazing. might even end up bumping my rating up

It really is. The only song I’m not a fan of is “He Said She Said” (mostly because of the chorus). Everything else here is strong.

Same Boney, I love the pre-chorus on that one but the chorus is a little lacklustre.

this is growing on me

the three-song run of Violent Delights, HNTD and Final Girl is insanely good. the rest doesn't quite live up but it's still really solid. gotta spin their debut

Yeah that run is awesome. I’d probably count “California” as part of it too as that’s also a favorite of mine, although those other three feel more of a piece with each other

“Good Girls” pre-chorus/chorus slaps, verse is solid though the lyrics annoy me a bit.

yeah i enjoyed that pre-chorus a lot

this group is a lot better at writing pre-choruses than choruses in general tbh, choruses and bridges seemed the weakest parts of most songs + the ending trio is kinda weak

but it's mostly fun so imma jam again

the "killing your idols is a chore / and it's such a fucking bore" verse bit is catchy as shit

and yeah I do like California although I don't think it has the atmosphere of the following 3

Exactly yeah re: Cali

And that bit in the Good Girls verse is ok, I don’t like “ So maybe if you just got some guts / We'd kill them with a thousand cuts” though

3.8, maybe 3.9 is about what I’d rate this - do we have a rare Boney/Rowan consensus???
