'I petition we rename her first for albums to Debuta, Posta, Homogenica, and Vespertina'
Homa and Vespa for short works for me, I often call this Vesper anyway so this slight alteration in spelling will leave me nonplussed. Calmness and serenity in the face of Ars's attempt at destroying everything we know a love.
I do be actually liking the fact it accidentally (?) separates her peak era by the way, convenient cataloguing

I wouldn’t want to discredit Source’s very nuanced observation (and I generally agree), but Bio’s cover is very nice to look at too.

Homo hits hard right out of the gate, whereas this takes longer to marinate
could explain it

"Homo hits hard right out of the gate, whereas this takes longer to marinate"
Funny enough, I think that also describes the retrospective public opinion on both albums. Homogenic received much more immediate acclaim, yet most people I talk to seem to prefer Vespertine now after spending so much time with both records

tl;dr Johnny
seriously tho what actual % of people who rated both albums on Sputniknusic.com are privy to the context you speak of Johnnyboi? Apart from music history super-nerds and people who did literally live through it (i.e. not Sput’s most common age-related demographic) I’d say that’s it…
so idk what’s your best guess here… 2%? 5% if we’re being generous. Okay let’s add in some knowledge-by-proxy… 10%. Yeah I’m not buying it
but you appear to be speaking about the world outside, which even less of us have any knowledge of and wasn’t the initial Q

I actually find this overall a bit more accessible than the 2 before it (though not debut obv), I think because the big dramatic major movements in the vocal lines tend to get more production/arrangement emphasis here? Or maybe I just notice it more for some other inscrutable reason lol who knows
"Unfortunately cocoon comes next"
Admittedly my least fave track here but the album would for sure be worse without it and tbh I kind of dig that early placement. It's bold, idk
