I'm pretty new to this band and, I gotta say, I'm enjoying this album quite a bit. A weak(ish) 4 as it's a bit long and a few songs don't do enough to differentiate themselves from each other, but I love the sound they're going for more broadly.
I can imagine people not enjoying this as much if you're used to them serving up songs like You Are The Narrative, but you end up getting Waves & Love Story instead. They're playing locally in a couple of months, so will delve into their past at some point.

I generally like these guys more than most but this was pretty weak. White Nile is sick as hell tho and one of their best songs in a long time

BoO has always had 1 or 2 great songs per album since Discovery.

Completely fell off for me. I never listen to this and I thought it was good

I am so fucking sick of the negativity surrounding Angel or Alien. You have no right - NO RIGHT - to give this album anything other than your sincerest, most unwavering praise. You absolute troglodytes, how f#£king dare you? "OoOoOoOh I mIsS oLd BoRN oF oSiriS" are you dense?? Is there something wrong with your frontal lobe??? Lucky for you, you cretins, I have a few words that I picked up from Loudwire that I *THINK* are going to really set the record straight.
---EVOLUTION---
YES, that's right. Evolution. Bands evolve, sweaty,a what's wrong have you never played a Pokémon game??? Born of Osiris have released an album that doesn't sound like albums they already released. Not that you'd understand, cos that word is to big for you. Hope ANGEL OR ALIEN didn't give you too much TROUBLE
---EXPERIMENTING---
ooooh this is a BIG one, EX-PER-AHH-MEN-TING. Got that?? Need me to fuck#&g slow down??? Yes, for the first time in their career, Born of Orisis have started to think outside of the box by crafting truly unique compositions. I'm sorry it's not the simple humdrum b*llshit you're used to from The Discovery and Tomorrow We Die Alive...if your feeble brain can't comprehend truly experimental composition mastery then maybe you should stick with those?? The rest of us, true Born of Osiris fans who are intelligent enough to appreciate TRUE artistry, will laugh at you while we gorge on the creative virtuousity served to us aplenty in Angel or Alien, the most DARING and EXPRESSIVE music Born of Ossiris have ever mustered. I'm laughing right now, thinking of all those "Follow the Signs" stans trying to even find the frets on their ukuleles to play something like "Poster Child". Imbeciles
---MATURING---
YES THATS RIGHT IDIOTS. Ronnie is like a big stinky stilton, he only gets better with age. You can tell that GILFs aren't the only thing he's learning to appreciate these days, nooo way: he's appreciating lyrics and song writing too. Again, idiots among you will look back to the older albums and see his more childish phase, and you'll say "wow, that's great!" And to you I say WELL DONE CHAMP! NOW RUN ALONG, COS THE TRUE BORN OF OSIRIS FANS ARE GOING TO LISTEN TO THE -REAL- MATURE SONGS!
I hope all you FAKE Born of Osiris fans learned something today. A little lesson in gratitude, attitude and ANGLE OR ALIEN It sickens me that I have to tell a Born of Osiris fan group how to be a fan group but these are sick and twisted times we live in.
I will be blocking all negative responses to this post.

They were better back in the day. The early work had 3 or 4 great songs. Double your investment.

this is easily the most palatable album in their discography, probably by design, missing the older heavier approach, but it's solid

First song in, these guys really sound like they're trying to score with girls of questionable legality now, both the music and the lyrics are just so naive

loved that pasta btw, I can't stand those people either. Bands going for a simpler, lower effort, more radio-friendly sound is not called "experimentation". And backlash when that happens isn't "being averse to change". Lots of bands change from playing a heavier to a lighter style without compromising the quality of the music, or actually becoming even better - recent Whitechapel being a good example of that. Bands like Katatonia, Carcass, The Contortionist, JFAC and many, many more have also changed their style drastically over the course of their careers, and nobody fucking minds. You know why? Because their music is still good and crafted with care. Whereas bands like In Flames, Sonic Syndicate and BOO just took made a conscious, coldly calculated decision to simplify their music and make it more appealing to young audiences for no other reason to make more money (and possibly fuck bitches). People really need to understand the fucking difference

There’s a difference, although this album is Born of Osiris as they have always been, really.

8 tracks in, sounds like this is gonna be a 2,5
painfully average, although the rare tech death riffs occasionally draw my interest
but overall this sounds like electric callboy, but without the charisma

uhhh wish I could have given this something more than 2.5 but it's just so damn low-effort and formulaic. There are some brief flashes of brilliance here and there like I said, but overall this just feels awfully manufactured and shallow. Bit of a shame, since I've always liked the overall aesthetic they've been going for. I realize sput in general has always had a soft spot for these guys, but this record just doesn't do very much for me. The outro track is cute, but it on its own (or even 4 memorable tracks out of 14) is not enough to call the whole album "good"

or maybe I'm just not easily impressed because I just got off listening to early scar symmetry and they were really artful and had a nice attention to detail, which this doesn't have that much of
