I thought this album was just solid until the concept sunk in.
"Why model albums after mixtapes instead of, y'know, just dropping a mixtape?"
Because it's a mixtape for the girl in Wilshire (what you called the centerpiece of a non-existent album). And the process of making it a mixtape was for him, or anyone feeling the same; You do it because you personally feel a need to share something that's part of your life.
The fact that that honesty is on the same album is specifically intended to undermine the bragging in a way that cuts to the core of the biggest tropes in hip-hop, or of even just being a celebrity. I'm 100% positive this album is changing lives in a calculated fashion.
I really wish there was another review for this. Maybe I'll make my first?
