not blowing me away but seems to be playing to her strengths a lot more than this one did...might be a grower

I can remember 4 songs max from this (which is about half as many as I wish I could forget from Masseduction) - has she rly decided to finally un-fall off?

also please let's acknowledge that she has finally started showing off her riffs again
sasdly not quite as much as she used to and they are kinda buried in the mix, quick and far between. but they're there again.

People are so hung up on the Sophie verse, who gives a fuck, it's fine

I've never listened to St. Vincent before but those SOPHIE lyrics are cringe as hell lol

Thank you for proving my point

I understand why people are upset since she never met her. Seems a bit clout chasy but people are allowed to make their own decisions!!!

What clout is she trying to chase please explain...
She admired Sophie and thought the way she died was poetic, trying to get a better view of the full moon, so don't really see why it matters that she references it ffs

People acting like artists haven't referenced other artists they never met in songs before lmao

Sophie verse is forgettably naff imo, outro of Melting of the Sun is far worse when it comes to clout chasing
definitely get the optics of trying to elbow into someone else's legacy for the sake of some trite poetic irony though, the song really does not sell me on the angle

The SOPHIE line is definitely a bit odd, but I can understand why the details of her death specifically (rising star killed by trying to get a better look at the moon) would strike a chord. It's maybe in poor taste due to its relative proximity (and Annie's lack of), but I don't think it is the worst thing ever. Annie's always kinda had some pretty out-there stuff, and this kinda tracks

It just seems distasteful she focused on her last moments of life rather than the art she left us with. It's definitely open for interpretation but to me its corny af

I actually think the Sophie thing is fine because it's so upfront and center here. Not that it's a huge deal but I actually find Caroline Polachek repeating LOOK OVER THE EDGE BUT NOT TOO FAR...in I Believe to be more egregious. But again, these are little things. They're dedicated to a person. People sing songs and write stories about other people all the time.

Yeah, she's not really trying to hide what's going on. I mean, there were plenty of people who came out with similar feelings when news of her death broke. People were really saddened that someone with so much charisma and talent could die from trying to do something so harmless. It's tragic for a ton of reasons. I think it's a little off-putting and it definitely grabs your attention, but clout-chasing doesn't exactly describe what's going on.
