All their albums have something to offer. Surprisingly, when I revisited their discography these last couple of days, Magma and the debut were the ones I enjoyed the most.

The fourth one is way better though

Nobody cares what a lurker like me thinks, but anyway, I went from thinking this was an utter disaster on first listen to thinking it's actually pushing a 4. Enjoying it immensely now. Nowhere close to touching the band's previous highs, but it's solid stuff from front to back in my view.

I don't even know why I am trying to like this album, maybe it's because I used to love these guys, but I just can't. It's really not very good, while not being terribly bad either.

It's not like I have a problem with extreme bands trying to get more accessible (I love all eras of Mastodon for example), but if you're going to try and be more accessible, you have to have the songwriting chops for that, and they just don't pull it off.

The choruses are very basic and "easy", the riffs are mostly kind of throw away, thr groove bits don 't really groove too much, the extreme moments don't hit very hard, and the technical side is bland. It's like everything is kinda neutered and it's all a bit "Baby's 1st extreme metal album".

Thinking this is a bare '3' for me because 3 or 4 tunes are passable, I guess.
