Despite my rates, I think this is prob better, on what its trying to be, than the previous one.

The heavier songs are heavier and the “more accessible” songs are catchier. Idk it’s different to me than the last record other than the “being somehow catchy through a wall of distortion and dissonance” motif

as much as I love Only Love, this makes that album its little bitch

I disagree. I think this album is more consistent, but Only Love is better overall. That stretch from Nowhere to Be Found through Luxury Themes is just some of the best music ever made imo

Luxury themes is untouchable agreed. But the an iteration, big shell, average death combo on this just as memorable to me.

Yeah I kind a have a hard time buying this as SO MUCH BETTER than Only Love, they’re both on par imo
Which means they’re both really great

Feeling a bit meh about a lot of this to be honest. Can't identify too many memorable grooves from the heavy parts or interesting melodies in the electronic moments. The noise elements make it heavier but don't add much to the atmosphere for me. It kind of reminds me of a heavier Kasabian, and I'm not a fan of them.

‘a heavier Kasabian’
Nice (possibly unintentional) diss.

>can someone who jams Cardiacs comment on how hard this is channeling Cardiacs?
The reason I have this 5'd is the same reason I have two Cardiacs albums 5'd. I think it's the unpredictability and energy
