the thing is people bitch about this band doing the same shit over and over again and hate ''Godspeed by the numbers'' but if the band changes at all they also hate it.

I didn't think that their previous albums were Godspeed by the numbers though.

I think Asunder and LT are pretty by the numbers Godspeed albums. minor changes here and there, like I remember when Asunder came out people hated that the band were ''more direct'' and older fans didn't like the change. But i think people come around to these albums over time.

Maybe lt, I don't remember it to be honest. I disagree on asunder though, from that point GYBE sound more like Bardo Pond and Earth.

Nah you need to drop this shtick now. This ain’t got a jot to do with these Godspeed fellas, it’s just milquetoast post-rock. I couldn’t care less if this was written by the mother-in-law, my opinion wouldn’t change one iota (although I might be a tad more diplomatic... maybe).

I know ya'll think that Fantano is a turd, but I like in his review that he mentions how even though this album pales in comparison to their early work, it still sounds better than what any other post-rock band is doing right now.
That being said, if any of you disagree with that, please let me know of any other modern post-rock bands who are still putting out good albums, because I actually want to know. It seems like this genre's peak happened quite a few years ago.

yes the genre has mostly been bad for years

new Mogwai had a couple of cuts that hold up better than anything here except maybe Fire At Static Valley, but a good 2/3 of that record is an equally good argument for the genre's obsolescence :/
