anarchistfish is this implication that you cant have favourite tracks while also think an album is ok
|

To say you like 75% of the album enough to call it your "favourite" but still give it a slightly above average score is odd.

It's weird to me how fans of GYBE can listen to 'Fire at Static Valley' and Government Came, and the final track (which is stunning) and not like it. I mean it's textbook Godspeed. Furthermore, how can someone like ADBA and not like this album? I know everyone has different opinions but I mean, the albums are pretty similar.

"favourite" on the album could be "just ok". Saying that most of the album is your favourite doesn't make any sense though.

Allelujah has miles more energy than this and peaks harder. Idk. Feel the energy. Also bold to assume that fans of this band would be happy for them to trot out the same shit over and over until the end of time. Time. Mmm

That user saying those 3 were their favorites could be referring to those tracks as split in the 8 track version on streaming.
|

that's even more baffling

I guess but it would make more sense to pick 3 out of 8 rather than 3 out of 4 as “favorites.”

‘That user saying those 3 were their favorites could be referring to those tracks as split in the 8 track version on streaming.’
This was my assumption, otherwise it would’ve been way easier just picking out whatever was your least favourite. They can’t have been picking from the 4 track version, surely not.

I've always heard they are awesome live. What I see on youtube doesn't seem like the most impressive thing ever, but I really don't think watching videos of it makes justice to a band of this type

I think maybe in the early '00s supporting their best work they might have been great - but supporting 'Allelujah!' they played a lot of non event drone, like 90%, sitting down with backs to audience.
Part of the problem was a '10s audience - you could hear about a hundred people talking louder than the band which when it's drone just made it a total joke, zero atmosphere. That wasn't the band's fault but then they didn't really do anything about that or anything else, just flat and uneventful.
A snorefest like no other.
