Ok yeah really enjoyed this. That 4 is a placeholder than can only move up. There were points I was afraid it was bordering on a little melodramatic, but it toed that line so well

This is great stuff. Only one spin through so far, but it's an easy 4 with huge potential to get better and better the more I listen. Love it.

they're one of the few bands that realise you can make a stoner/doom/sludge metal album without just ripping off sabbath and sleep lol

Yeah they gave things a more modern twist...

by ripping off Mastodon, Baroness, The Ocean etc. instead.

I’m probably joking. This isn’t doom or stoner though.

What number would you give the probability that you were joking?

I'm a little offended at the use of "stoner/doom" as relevant sub-genres on this one. Asheran, yes. Here?

Had some quibbles about some of the big moments on this lacking a bit of oomph in the production department, but this really is a great album and does still sound great. I really like the female vocals and the ambient moments. Very diverse range of sounds on this.

It’s a standard half-joking sort of affair, so 50/50 by default I suppose. Probably.

It’s probably more a mix issue for me. Beat this topic to death though. Album is cool.

Not understanding the mix issue peeps were talking about earlier in the thread, sounds good (albeit not amazing) on my AirPods and home system.

On my first metal binge in years and this is hitting a sweet spot for sure

Dewi - don’t know if you are being genuine or not but my first comment about the album is on page 10...

A good mix is a good mix regardless of genre

I remember liking this initially and it’s still pretty good, but I’m not really getting the urge to revisit it regularly. Diminishing returns.

I checked my Spotify/last fm scrobbles and at one point I listened to 23 different albums before eventually returning to this. That tells me something (no not that).
