Electric Twilight and Eidolon are absolute jams. Jesse's bouncy riff towards the end of Twilight is worthy of a *chef's kiss*

beginning of Gungrave sounds like Barbarian by ABR

man its really oddly specific moments in their music where i really feel like they click w me, but the "feet upon the ground" melody in remnnat is the moment i fully fell in love w this album. similar ish magic to the first time i heard the delivery of "the obsidian midnight rendition" outta him on render the void

High praise, that whole outro on Render is just glorious.

its not on THAT level. the end of render is my favorite thing ever put to album, but that was the closest moment on here to feeling that magic for me

They really should have brought the harp back
Render the Void is the best closer ever agreed.

Tbh Nash the production feels less sterile on this than the previous two outings and more organic than before.

The intro to Gungrave reminds me of the intro to Barbarian by August Burns Red.

Although I am not a supporter of the relentless unhinged bashing Drift gets on here, I'm glad the sput crowd finally seem to like a JT era album

The production on this is no more or less sterile than what was on the previous two, this is just a different type of production, the ABR production, Neon is the only notably particularly bad production of the 3

“ his riff writing and arrangement lacks the nuances of Alan Rigdon's songwriting and more often than not falls into djent cliches (see 'Snowblood' and 'Gungrave' for examples).”
As much as I love this album, I can’t disagree with this at all.

With @Tundra on this one, both Drift and Neon were great albums in their own right. I get if you were a fan before JT why you would dislike Drift, but tbh it has most of my favorite Erra songs on it and was the first album I heard by them. Commercial or not, the songs slay.
That said, this rips. Glad it’s as good as I’d hoped!

I agree with your review. I'm not sure what I'll end up rating this. I find some of the vocals are a little cringe in parts. I think I just miss Garrison. The drums do sound a lot more interesting than Neon though. He's an awesome drummer and underutilized on that album.
