The album doesn't really reach a weak point until the middle of Tigris, but even then it ends with a bang and then leads right into the closer which has grown into a favorite. Like Garth said a couple pages ago, even at this album’s worst they still manage to keep your attention. The interlude is the only other song out of the 8 tracks that isn't super memorable and lush.

Pleasure was all mine trust me. This was one of those situations where I dug the debut but was like, "man, if these guys just fully committed to making an elaborate countrydelic album they'd be awesome", not expecting them to go and actually do that. By my own sheer dumb luck, they did. Anyway, yeah, glad you're digging it.

This is good - some MMJ, Neil Young, Floyd, Flaming Lips, Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, etc

Actually there might be an even more obvious 'jam rock' country act I'm missing in that mix too - suggestions on a postcard please

The doof 4 is nothing to take lightly, so I'm happy with that rating. Do you have any favorites yet? Mine are Faint Repeater, Antlers in Velvet, and Fly Migrator (in that order), but the only tracks that border on average are Tigris and the interlude.

Actually the opposite end of the spectrum 'The Whisper is Ours' and 'Rumors of Water' are my favourites so far but it's early days ;)

"countrydelic"

I've never heard of this and I love the mere idea of it.

@Doof: I love those tracks too, so no qualms with that take. The closing title track was the biggest grower for me.

@Calligy: I don't know if I coined that term or if I thought of it because it's been mentioned before, but either way, it suits this style of music.

Any favorites? I feel the same way you do. I'm on what's got to be at least my 15th listen and I still can't bring myself to go listen to anything else.

Yeah countrydelic has a nice ring to it. I'm gonna claim credit for that until I find out it's been coined before =D
