yeah this is great. time will tell where it lands in their catalog for me but after a few listens i feel it sits comfortably in the top half of their discog. not a bad track here and the good stuff is REALLY fucking good. overall its just another excellent album from one of alt metal's most consistent bands and thats really all i could ask for. i could see this jumping to a 4.5 after a few more listens

I remember listening to the album “this type of thinking could do us in” in 2004.
It made me a huge fan, and I have had the privilege to see them live twice!
In my opinion the last album I have ever gone to revisit and truly enjoy was 2011 Hats off to the bull, with songs like Revenge,Envy, glimpse of the con etc*
La Gargola and the North Corridor were very gritty and the rhythm sections just never clicked with me, the beautiful melodies once heard on Sci-Fi crimes are no longer for Pete’s voice to replicate since 2014
This band’s music was always about Pete’s beautiful angelic-like choruses to me, with songs like “Peach” I now
Firmly believe this is a wrap for chevelle and this album is a farewell to fans

"I just hear way too many Maynard impressions in what he does, and he's been doing it since The Red."
Well, Pete wrote "Clones" to throw shade at people comparing them to Tool all the time, so even though he does sound like Maynard pretty often I don't know how intentional it is. I'd say "Ghost And Razor" and "Piistol Star (Gravity Heals)" is where he sounds closest to Maynard, even musically.

To allude that Pete is intentionally impersonating Maynard makes me belt out laughing.
I had to move Sleep the Deep around; it just didn't fit where they put it. I wish it bled into Self-destructor, so I put it right before Lost in Digital Woods and it works so much better for me. I seem to be in the minority for absolutely loving the end track. I was expecting just some background noise into a fade out, but they continue where they sort of left off in Test Test...Enough. That hit me hard in the gut.

If it's less than 256 kbps you will notice a a large difference even if you are not an audiophile. Besides some of the invite only torrent sites, RUtracker is the best. It's in russian, so you'll have to navigate through that, but once you have an account the files are in English. There are programs you can get that will tell you the quality of the FLAC and if it's truly lossless. I spent years rebuilding my music collection to the highest quality possible. Terabytes upon Terabytes. I can play my collection constantly 24 hours a day without hearing the same song for over 3 years literally. lol. The length of of every song combined is over 3 years in length haha

“Got about 3/4 of the way through, but had to stop. The singer ruins it for me. Technically, he's very good, but he's still doing his best young Maynard impression.“
So what you’re saying is that Pete has been impersonating Maynard for 8 albums and it’s definitely not because his voice may just sound similar? Lol.

I think this is by far their best since Sci-Fi Crimes.
It's by far their best flowing and concise record in that time, feels like a really solid experience from beginning to end and not just a collection of songs.

if it does end up being a 3.8 then it's because people rated it that way solely for the meme

Really impressed, def my fav since sci fi. Endlessly is their best ballad-y song in quite a while.

Best effort from them by far. Whoever votes a 1 intentionally for the sake of it... Y'all are fucking weird.

Always assumed this was a pop-punk or metalcore band lol. Is this ACTUALLY worth listening to, especially if I've never heard their work before?

I dig Tool of course, but if this is bro-y, muddy-boots, alt-rock, I'm out. I like the pulpy sci-cover artwork tho

Listen to WWN first before you listen to anything else from this band.
