I mean BMTH are twats and thats why i never take their music seriously and thats why its fine when they went more mainstream but i feel Architects had a lot to say at times in their career and now it just seems so devoid of agency, happened to Parkway Drive too, sad to say

I don't think this is that bad and I loved the singles off of this. I was hoping for this direction, but I am going to give it a few spins to see if the album tracks hold up next to the singles.
And I love the synths.

Couldn't even finish it, like 3 songs to go. Sounds like Bring me the Horizon. It's so cheesy and poppy at times, don't care for it.

It's not that bad. People are being stuck up. It's been 15 years, they're overdue for an evolution in sound. I think the raw talent they bring to the more commercial sound makes this a pretty solid release.

Yeah, can't see myself listening to this again, other than maybe Animals or Goliath at a push. I guess All Our Gods... is the best we'll get from them. Still love Nihilist so much!
This feels like a complete cop out by comparison.
Also, jesus, when I saw it was 15 tracks I had to look to see if I'd selected some deluxe edition with demos or something. When the material is this weak, what were they thinking?

I'm sorry but what raw talent are they bringing to the commercial sound? What exactly are they doing that cant be replicated? Sam is giving you dime-a-dozen choruses that anyone else could've came up with. The guitars riffs are extremely tame, not doing anything to stand out from other more mainstream rock/radio friendly core bands. The drumming...zzzzz. Nothing noteworthy on that front either. They aren't even really experimenting with different song structures, its the same formula all across the board.

On second listen...
Giving Blood, Libertine, Dead Butterflies, Black Lungs, and Meteor are my favorite tracks here.
The rest of the tracks are very good, but could be better.
Demi God and Dying is Absolutely Safe are just bad.
Bumpin it down to a 4.

it's kinda ham tbh. overproduced + strong earlyish Plan B vibes, and no-one wants those in 2021
(re. artwork. am sure the music is fking terrible)
