@Dewinged Considering it's one of my least favourable songs on here, you, my son, YOU NEED JESUS

Serisouly, though, check ''Martyre of the free word'' if you haven't!

@CalligyJack And you, darling, if you like this spooky, eerie vibe, check Once Upon a Nightmare. Less aggressiveness, double the atmosphere

OUaN is great yeah, but I prefer the more aggressive tracks on that album like Universal Death Squad.

I think Holographic Principle was a great showcase for Epica's aggressive side, whereas Omega is a high example of their sense of atmosphere.

I think Epica have lost some of the gothic atmosphere that prevailed on their first and third album (The Divine Conspiracy hhhnhghhhhhhh) but yes, this one has some great passages as well, like Skeleton Key and Kingdom of Heaven Pt.II

I think a lot of that has to do with Sascha Paeth no longer producing for the bands material. He was pretty much a huge architect in their sound for their first 3 albums. He still produced albums 4 and 5 and that is why they still had some Gothic tracks on them, but they slowly started to abandon that style until he eventually got replaced with Joost van den Broek for Quantum Enigma and every album afterwards, whose style is firmly planted with Power and Neoclassical Metal.

True af, for some reason I never connected these dots, thinking that Mark and Isaac turned to be a more aggressive guitar duo than Mark and Ad. Also, I thought that Yves leaving had a huge impact, as he was also a great composer.

Yves leaving was also a definite sign of changes.

This is pretty fun. Code of Life is such a Myrath rip-off though it's kinda funny.

Myrath followed Epica chronologically, and earlier songs (e.g. La'petach Chatat Rovetz (The Final Embrace) and Fools of Damnation) are really heavy on the eastern aesthetic.

Myrath are great though, indeed!

Gave this a little bump.

Honestly I might like this even better than latest Nightwish.

This is 2021's biggest letdown to me. Apart from Code of Life nothing here really clicks with me. :/
