Only a song in, and while I haven't completely made up my mind about it I feel like this one would have benefited from allowing the violin and piano to mesh with guitar, bass, and drums. It's a cool concept, but I think a more post-hardcore sound would have meshed really well with this unorthodox instrumentation.

Yeah, drums would be cool in places

So many font names would make good/believable band names. Times New Roman (shitty emo metal), Arial Black (depressing dream pop), Papyrus (prog), Wingdings (some animal collective shit)
and that’s just basic ones, some font names are fuckin hardcore

Baskerville Old Face is the name of my new grindcore/ chamber pop/ prog metal band.

wow 5 pages and the only comment about the cover is Reefa saying "nice cover", meanwhile 4 pages of font discussion lol
You have changed Sput.

cause it's awful tbh
actually it's kinda cool maybe idk

Well this sounds like a hell of a find. Humour me for a moment pls mars - what don't you like about the album? What could it do to climb from a 4 to a 5 for you?
Doubtlessly I'll find out myself next time I swap out the music on my phone, just curious to hear your thoughts

Great review mars, tough one to take on tbh.
I endured 3 tracks, didn't like this at all, but I don't like screamo in the first place. When you mix it with classical folk... it just sounds atrocious to me. Big nope.

I do agree with what's been said before re: drums, sometimes it feels as though the record is a tad empty. Also, the piano is relegated primarily to support and doesn't shine often enough, with the violin and guitar quickly overtaking it. Those are my immediate gripes I think. Plus some more post rock numbers.

I'm not a fan of this sound, but I appreciate them going for it, and I appreciate this review. I'll keep listening; hopefully it'll click.

So do you reckon this whole affair started out as a stylistic choice, or more like a hey we're buds and none of us play drums oops fuck it

i will probably hate this but need to check it out anyway

this is the '20 definition of tru hipster music
Sounds like. . . . a more aggressive version of another french band, A Backward Glance on a Travel Road - which are the less aggressive spin-off of Hypno5e, another tru hipster french metal djuntz band.

I'm glad most can appreciate that this is pretty off the beaten path. Could be a very exciting route to pursue with a lot of potential.

Nostromo did it first with their acoustic album Hysteron Proteron.
