"
I find the whole HP schtick quite cringey. It's a children's book for gods sake."

So is a bunch of Tolkien

bit of a false-equivalency - none of the books that the tolkien bands write about are the children's books haha

this is a project based around specific novels geared towards a specific audience

the hobbit was written to read to his kids and like the first half is really bouncy kids' stuff, but otherwise yeah the rest is pretty dry adult-oriented lit.

yeah i'll give you the hobbit but i'm not aware of anything written around the hobbit - just happens to be written in the same world as some of his more adult-intended stuff

Isn’t all Tolkien metal all Hobbit metal? Because, chicken meets egg first?

Btw, the Hobbit was rewritten in a few places to fit into the complete lore.

And The Hobbit is metal af.

"...The lightning splinters on the peaks, and rocks shiver, and great crashes split the air and go rolling in tumbling into every cave and hollow; and darkness is filled with overwhelming noise and sudden light. Bilbo ... saw that across the valley the stone-giants were out, and were hurling rocks at one another for a game, and catching them, and tossing them down into the darkness where they smashed among the trees far below, or splintered into little bits with a bang ... they could hear the giants guffawing and shouting all over the mountainsides..."

There's maybe too much of an influx of Silmarillion-metal out there, would be great if someone started a project focusing on the Hobbit instead. It'd be rad.

Thank you garas, more specifically I am looking for some metal tracks based on The Hobbit. The ones I managed to google were barely metal.

This is a question of personal honor now!

Yes, definitely most Tolkienesque metal outfits are based on the Hobbit, and their king is Burzum.

Yeah Harry Potter based bm is not an attractive proposition to me. Corny af, but curiosity is gonna make me listen to it at some point. lol

"It's really the melodies that drive this tbh" - absolutely eg Sirius Black.

Underrated. Really solid
