I have a friend who thinks its practical to buy a shitty beater once a year and spend thousands of dollars fixing and maintaining it enough that it even lasts that long rather than just spend a bit more on something that might not fall apart for 5 years

i was like "i spend like $60 on maintenance a year"

I’ve had like 4 cars in 4 years. Abysmal luck.
My last car got T-Boned at 50 mph, guy just plows through a red light and obliterates my car. Scary shit. My current car is from that legal payout tho, and it’s my favorite that I’ve had. Heated seats baby!

maintaining your car and the cost is a total crapshoot. take it from someone who does all their own maintenance. the average cost these days of a mechanic visit is about 500 bucks American. but then there are those lucky assholes who never maintain their car and it just keeps fucking going

same with the guy i was talking about, first car got t-boned, except he was an idiot and didn't get a payout somehow even though it wasnt his fault because he's legit super fucking stupid so he bought another one and then someone stole it and fucked it up so he junked it when he got it back and now he got this shitty station wagon that looks like it'll last the week

one time I had 4 cars in 4 years and all failed the exact same way, timing belt snapped prematurely and blew the engine. it was then I decided to walk for months and eventually become a used car salesman and worked my way up to a new car. now I hate my new car and want to walk everywhere again

my rear bumper was kinda coming off a bit so i slapped some tape on it. the front undercarriage plastic shit cover thing started coming off so i just cut that shit off. only time i've gone to a garage in the like 5-6 years i've had this car is for an oil change lol! i guess im one of the lucky ones.

@pots or you must not live in an area where your suspension and 4wd is a factor. a lot of people do the basics i.e. fluids but most forget about the suspension or dont care and forget the timing belt. at about 200k maybe earlier maybe later, their steering goes because their suspension has eroded or their engine blows because the belt breaking destroys it. all cars in your situation are ticking time bombs but it doesnt really matter since you have gotten so many years out of it as is

This is the album that I GUARANTEE you, we will be having all sorts of people on this site and elsewhere pretending in 5-10 years that they were huge fans of immediately, that they 'got it' despite rating it a 1 on here and calling it 'utter shit', etc. I've liked AM for a long time but this is something else, entirely. Hard to even compare it to their earlier work as it feels almost like a different band at times.

bought my current 2010 Nissan Altima at 200K+ miles around two years ago and it’s still kickin. Really satisfied with this bad boy, plus it has bad ass speakers.
