Okay production is way better in the less heavy tracks. First few tracks felt very distorted, like I was listening to 128 kbps files... Production is nicely dynamic though, will need to go through it again to make a proper judgement.

Insomnia afforded me a focused listen to this last night. Enjoyed it a fair bit. Part of me wants this to be more technical. Some sections are jazzy enough to warrant at least a bit more flourish from the drums. Still, I sense this record is about the atmosphere. Production is definitely nice and silky on the slower tracks. I dig the vocals pretty much across the board although find the start of Dionysus a bit grating.

Lol I think Dionysus is the only time I actually enjoyed his vocals on this one. I normally dig the dude’s approach but it was often unbearable here. Pains me to say it too - I’m all for his usual rawness and vulnerability, which are still present, but some of the over-earnestness and the occasional cringey soft singing offkey moments are def a little hard to take. I do dig the vibe musically for sure now, but those vocals...

After disapointment of last album this one is growing on me, certain songs are total earworms for me, Fall from Grace and the main riff on Alda Syndanna in particular.

Awwmannn I’m jamming Masterpiece of Bitterness right now, 15 minutes deep into the hypnotic mindmelt of an opener, and it kinda makes me never wanna play the new one ever again

Yeah...the nanana bit def ain’t it
