imo nothing wrong with defending a friend’s review I guess but “this review is wordy” is pretty mild criticism and not any more or less asinine than saying “great review”, albeit less posi. and since one of the points of a review (imo, fwiw) is to help guide potential listeners as to whether or not it might be worth their time to bother, that guy’s comment was probably worth acknowledging 🤷🏻♂️

Yeah Idk I've accused verdant of being pretentious in the past but I found this far more readable than most of his other reviews. There are some persistent issues, primarily in using archaic language seemingly for the sake of it, but I think on the whole he's gotten better at the conversational approach

This guy gets it.
Think it's a solid outing. There was one track that ended abruptly, and went straight into the next one. Wasn't a fan of that transition. I also think the vocalist is a little inconsistent at times. There are times where she wows me. Other times she sings in this whiny, nasal-y tone that has me wishing someone in the studio told her to stop.

criticism and commendation are not equal in my eyes i don't think!! both have merit but at least when a compliment is "asinine" it still serves the purpose of making someone feel nice for a bit, which is a good thing right? positivity is great as long as it doesn't enable harmful behaviour idk
anyway i don't mind criticism at all; it impacts me for all of 5 seconds, i just think it's a waste of energy to say something like "review is super wordy" when it's a matter of opinion (and mine is that this one definitely isn't -- though i admit that i'm biased on account of uhhhhhh). when it's that subjective and the comment isn't constructive, or it's lazy, or it reads disparagingly, i think it's just as fine to call that out as it is to point out things that the reviewer can improve on!
anyway thanks each and every one of you, now i'm going to go find my thesaurus so i have something to cry into :~~~)
