Maradrum is a 4.0 in my book, but it's 3rd worst, 2nd worst being Monumension

PS: I am a HUGE Enslaved fan.

To me, their worst will always be Eld and Vertebrae

Haha that works out perfectly then Frost, because Monumension is my second fave and I'm not a huge (modern, post 2003) Enslaved fan at all.

"This album is legit and classy af" [2]

On this band Trif we're the polar opposite ha. I'm a huge modern, post 2003 Enslaved fan but not of their earlier work at all. I'm all over their bigger proggier projects, Isa onwards

The new EP does kinda feel like one main song plus three extended interludes, but it is pretty sweet nonetheless

that we're discussing which is their worst instead of best is kinda testament to how brilliant these guys are across a huge discog imo

Every time I listen to this band now, I just feel more and more like they should ditch the harsh vocals. They've really grown off me over the years. His harsh vocals just sound so goofy, over the top, and completely shoe horned in most of the time imo

I disagree. I think they fit in nicely.

Its like what I feel with tribulation. I think the harsh vocals fit really cool in their more rock sound, making it imediatelly less crappy chedar cheese and more brie

As someone who loves Enslaved and loves to top and to bottom, it's honestly my favorite Enslaved LP from top-to-bottom.

Edit: The more I listened to this band, the more I started to really enjoy the way the harsh vocals sit with the music. They’re like a black metal anchor, even when they get really prog. It was jarring at first but really clicked with Heimdal.

Disagree very hard. This is their worst album imho, but the run from Monumension to this one is top notch quality prog extreme metal and the vocals are sublime. It's actually one of my fav things about Enslaved
