Just bought this on vinyl yesterday and didn't realise Holocene isn't on it. Kinda sucks that track is amazing

TIL "Holocene" is considered a bonus track and the disc actually finishes on blast beats

Yeah, just listened to it on youtube before and didn't notice

it's not a bonus track - they just couldn't fit it on the single LP.
though IMO if they *do* say it's a bonus track i call bullshit considering it's on the CD, the stream, the regular digital edition... like, literally every single other format except the single LP. in fact, it's on the double LP edition. so it's basically just a lazy pressing.

"lazy" is also "environmentally-friendly" in this case though, since a double LP uses up a lot more materials (resin being particularly pollutive) than a single. I remember this was a big deal with Helloween's Keepers 3, when they made it a 2-CD edition by running 2 minutes over and caught significant flak for being wasteful with packaging.

that would be true if they didn't have two double LP pressings of this album and three single LP pressings of this album. all from the same label. so if ya wanna talk about pollutive...

oh heck, yikes. not that I expect a label that signed fake Batushka to care about ethics. I keep hearing terrible things about metal blade's treatment of artists but The Ocean must just have a great deal going for them.

actually it was pelagic that was responsible for the vinyl pressing. though, on one hand, perhaps record labels can be given a free pass on doing whatever it takes to stay afloat right now.

ah, that makes sense. that's basically their own label and it's a smallish one so they have to capitalize on their main gig. still weird having to choose between several versions.

i think it's a bit nuts that they have pressings for both the instrumental version and the vocal version - and in several colours. i think that's a bit overkill for any band.

wait what lol. that's what like, bonus CDs are for, not entire separate LP pressings. wtf man.

It seems like they did the same shit they did on part 1: release all of the best songs as singles before the album drop. It really knocks the wind out of the album.
|
| |
Easy cure for that is just dont listen to the singles beforehand. Thats a personal choice.

"the same shit they did on part 1: release all of the best songs as singles before the album drop"
that's...that's what singles are. that's how album promotion works.

Well, the deep tracks on the last one were better than the singles.
