Their setlist really needs a shake up too, only the t/t they played off here and it's just the same old songs live every time.

Yep. We got Lovers, which was cool as fuck don’t get me wrong, and they busted out Bloody Cape and Beware too. But I’ve seen these guys six times over the last ten years and I feel like I’ve maybe heard 30 different songs.

Like I get it, you gotta play Change, BQAD, Digital Bath etc but man support some of the new stuff too. They’ve gotta think Gore was a misstep too because they only played two songs off of it when I saw them tour for that record.

Idk man, I was really hoping to hear more of this album live, like a lot more. Not just Genesis and the title track.

And yeah, Chino really half assed Beware and didn’t even bother doing the outro for Bloody Cape so I don’t even know if I should count that for them.

I do hope they keep the second guitarist around. Let’s chino focus more on his vocals, and his background vocals were a lot better than Sergio so I guess there’s that.

"They were meh when I saw them a couple of weeks ago, Chino sounded very tired."

I saw them in Budapest a week ago and they were really good. Chino was having so much fun and he was on point throughout the entire night.

"and didn’t even bother doing the outro for Bloody Cape"

He did it when I saw them and it was glorious. I don't know why he differs so much between shows.

The part about the setlist is true though. We didn't even get Lovers, Royal or Beware, we just got Around the Fur and Headup which I would trade any day of the week for the former songs. The rest was just their greatest hits basically.

Seen them a few times and it always varies, really does depend on whether Chino can be bothered or not tbh.

That also is totally a factor. He was fucking horrible the first time I saw them. But Chi had just died so I figured that had something to do with it. He was on point when I saw them back in 2017, and he just didn’t have it back in April.

One of my favorite vocalists but man he’s so hit or miss

Like some songs he's fine then others he just goes WOO a lot haha.

Then parades around stage catching his breath muttering gibberish.

He's pushing 50 now and touring as you get older must be exhausting, but it's crazy how one night he's off and the next he kills it.

Bruh he looked quite slim when we saw them and he even came in front of our barricade so I got to see him up close. On the Gore cycle he looked like he was gaining quite a lot but now he honestly looks good, not optimal but better than last few years.

I'm just glad his voice hasn't declined as he's aged like most other singers' voices have declined. Like, he can be inconsistent but it's very clear that when he is on he is on and he sings the same way he has always sang. With vocalists like Maynard for example, you can just hear the decline in the voice, no matter the effort they put in the performance. With him it's the effort that is the problem sometimes I guess.

Maynard is at least consistent live though. Although they tend to avoid more vocally challenging songs these days so idk if that really counts.

Chino does look alright, maybe he's bulky but not anywhere as fat as during Gore

I do like Tool, but honestly Maynard is the least important member of the band. He’s good, but I think Chino is definitely a step above even if he sometimes isn’t great live.

There's no way Maynard is the least important member when Adam Jones exists. Tool will be Tool without Adam Jones, but it won't be Tool without Maynard, he contributes to their sound far more than you give him credit for.

Don’t Danny, Adam, and Justin do all the instrumentals and then have Maynard come in and lay down the vocals? Maynard isnt really that involved with the songwriting.

That’s the impression that I had.

Maynard is a winemaker who dabbles in music

Chino carries 97% of his body mass in his neck and jowls so it’s difficult to tell how much flubber he’s really packin
