In Birdsong is definitely a 5, it's a totally unique song for them and they absolutely nailed it. Even now it still makes my jaw drop.
I think the highs on Raw Data Feel are as high as this, there's just more of them.

It’s only really hex and cut up I’d think about cutting, even then they’re serviceable enough and even a bit catchy… but just the overall production and theming is so on the money this time round, it’s a big improvement on this for me

The beats are peppy I have to give it that
Anyone like ‘In Our Heads’ by Hot Chip? Something in the mood and tone of this reminds me of it soooo much

Raw Data Feel is a great album, I'm just not in love with it... Yet anyways. I was under the impression it was going to be their most experimental album, given all the procedural influence, but actually I feel that this is their safest album yet. Which is in no means a bad thing, it's just everything I expected from a band usually pushing the envelope into new territories.
It's still a fairly solid 4/5 from me. It's consistent, produced impeccably and enjoyable but not particularly striking unfortunately. This could change over time, mind. Software Greatman is my personal highlight from this.

When talking about the splicing of dance, pop and rock listen to Never Let Me Down Again by Depeche Mode bearing in mind the fella who sings it previously worked for the gas board and grew up on the Fryerns estate in Basildon then bin this drivel.
I do like the reptile song from wotsit though. A lot.

I always think this lot are more like The Cardiacs if they wanted to actually sell some records

There’s no willingness to antagonise with this band in anyway shape or form other than they simply just antagonise which is the worst possible facet in this game.

New album is growing on me a lot. This always happens with these guys haha. Saw the music video for Jennifer last night and made me appreciate how incredible that song is, and maybe how I initially misinterpreted the album as being safe. It's better recognised as everything that makes everything everything a great band, thrown into one album.

Software Greatman is the perfect closer, lyrics are quietly devastating and the vocal splices add so much. Alex's production sends the whole album into fucking space.

Very glad the new album acutely lived up to expectations! Definitely an improvement over this

A week later and…I now know it isn’t better than this one.
Half the songs on the new one have no longevity of appeal really.
The other half are great though admittedly. Still, the steady Radiohead’isms of this make for a more consistent album. ‘Violent Sun’ and ‘Birdsong’ reign supreme.

I should give this band another try if they’re being compared to Cardiacs. This one was boring tho.

I dunno Doof, I had the complete opposite reaction. I'm finding myself coming back to Raw Data Feel than anything else at the moment. Heck, even the Mrs who doesn't really like their music, has been singing them in the house lol.

Hot take: Violent Sun is a very mid track
