Hot take here. The chorus in the title track is way better on the Re-recorded version and people were only listening with their nostalgia and not with open ears. The production is a bit flat for sure but it's not the worst thing ever. People overreacted to this to a pretty massive degree.

The re-recordings are fucking abysmal but the actual remasters aren't that bad and Themes and Variations in D-Minor is quite awesome.

"Joke of a band"
i cant even listen to Whoracle anymore without thinking of what they have become, ISIS did it right, call it quits when youre ahead

People have been trying to recreate the Clayman sound for years, and In Flames didn't even try here.

I didn't realize this was so hated. I thought the re-recordings were fine, and obviously the band didn't intend for those to be the definitive versions of those songs. Anders' clean vocals are definitely pretty grating but I think his screams/growls are better than they ever were back in the day. I still prefer the original and think most of their stuff since A Sense of Purpose is mediocre to ass but the hate for this is something else.

they finally put out something halfway decent and then this filth comes up on my feed

I thought we all agreed never talking about that pile of shit ever again
