I think the avg is more indicative that it straight up blows

so negative here rip

Hot Sugar and Space Ghost... are easily my new favs off this. Honestly very front heavy, prob 4.3/5 range but the personal touch with the lyrics / concept and the array of influences on this makes it a lil more cohesive than Zaba. really dig this but how to be a human being still is their best

as for the lyrics quick note...Dave definitely shapes up his childhood for the listener really well, not necessarily who he is in the present. songs like Domestic Bliss talk about his own friend's mother getting abused, space ghost is about his friend from his childhood coming to school with a gun in high school and getting arrested for planning a school shooting, many others like hot sugar and deja Vu talk about relationships with imbalances in perception and struggles with finding oneself instead of trying to be like someone. I can see how people might think it's too scattered to amount to a single clear person but I kinda like that idea of your nostalgic memories being like a Dreamland you go to, not really knowing 100% how accurate they are...like a dream

And also much like a Dreamland, as far as the music goes, I can’t remember a God damn thing about it as soon as it stops

I like that idea too! If they had actually done something with it I would probably like this more!

I wish the entire album has continued in the same vein as the opener/title-track. I loved the somber-outlook-on-modern-society feel it has: "You've had too much of a digital love / You want everything live, you want things you can touch / Make it feel like like a movie you saw in your youth / Make it feel like that song that just unopened you / You were ten years old holding hands in the classroom / He had a gun on the first day of highschool."

I haven't analyzed the lyrics to many of the other songs, but nothing hit me in the gut like that did. Your Love (Deja Vu) and It's All So Incredibly Loud are my 2nd and 3rd favorites at this point, I think, but mostly this is just decently catchy mainstream pop which is a step down from their last album.Disappointing but certainly not terrible.
