I just bought this album for my dad for x-mas, along with October and War. Were the only U2 albums he'd only got on LP, not CD.
I've only heard Out of Control from the album, from the Slane Castle DVD, and I thought the song was fantastic. I'll definitely check the rest of the album out asap.

I have always viewed this as an overlooked masterpiece. I also never really got into War, Joshua Tree, or Achtung Baby and I think An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart should have been longer as it is my favorite song on the album.

edges playing on this is quite similar to alex lifesons on hold your fire and the like
shame he watered down his playing so much on joshua tree

nah i mean i get why, his sound was massive on that record but shame he didnt use his chops as hard

Yeah but it kinda needed to be more restrained because Joshua Tree was more focused on Bono vox on this he could just do what he wanted guitar wise

To be honest I don't know a lot of Joshua Tree that well I never got into it as much as the stuff before it. Kinda incongruous with my U2 fan persona but ah well
What do you think of Edge lead vocals? I really like em when he pulls em out

But yeah Van Diemen is the best example
