Good album, great musicianship, brutal & (ma)sonically disturbing.... although not completely fresh/new in terms of style. Guitars are not quite on-par with Gorguts and Voivod while at the same time it seems trying to get into their territories.
Stylistically, for avant-garde metal I'd prefer fresh and "out of the template" approaches like Mamaleek "Come and See" or Kekal "Quantum Resolution".

Kusangii I’m guessing you don’t have much of an ear for the more dissonant and atonal end of the death metal spectrum do you

I can appreciate a few bands who pull off this style well, but most of the time it just comes across as incredibly pretentious and messy just for the sake of it
Artificial Brain is pretty cool and Ulcerate have one good album so
My main problem with this style is that there's hardly any diversity and it becomes tiring and predictable extremely fast in most cases

@Kusanagi: Honestly once you get an ear for it, you’ll probably hear that a lot of these bands sound different in spite loosely sharing the characteristic of dissonance. I mean DsO, Gorguts, Blut Aus Nord, Portal, Suffering Hour, Ulcerate, Mitochondrion, Negativa, etc, all have different sounds to offer. This particular album is heavily diverse dude. The idea that these songs run together at all to you means, to me, that you aren’t listening close enough. The songs are wildly different from the next. And all thrill rides at that. Then again, you may just not like what you hear at the end of the day. Still, the musicianship here is undeniable.
@eMZ: How in the world is this not fresh? Nobody else sounds like them. And even as they paid tribute to Voivod with the cover, I’d be hard pressed to say these guys are trying to be like anyone but themselves. Don’t let all the bells and whistles go in one ear and out the other.

This has an absolute shit-ton of variety, definitely calling bullshit on that one Kusangii. And it’s anything but generic.

"I bet this is generic Imperial Triumphant"
Nope. They definitely stepped their pussy up on this one. They've really touched on their best ideas and come off more innovative than ever on this album. Vile Luxury is excellent too but this is definitely a cut above that.
