Is not a bad album, return to form but I have a problem with the new over the top power metal voice, sometimes sounds out of place for me, other than that I enjoyed it in general.

the clean vocals are ridiculously obtrusive but the songs are pretty decent overall

Great slice of folk/death/power metal

The power metal song structure just kills me on this. repeat chorus 3 times before repeating it again but with a key change

I wonder what Sputnik.com user Thalassic thinks of this 2020 release of the same name released by Finnish folk metal band Ensiferum

I dont think the song structures here are really much of a departure from their other material. It's just now they have power metal vocals

Yeah you are right. I havent loved any of there stuff since their debut, and frankly their past several albums have been downright terrible imo.
This is a step in the right direction, The Defence of the Sampo being the best song obviously

seemed better than their last one when I heard it a few days ago. i'll have to listen to it again but i didn't love it tbh.

Cold Northland is indeed Heathen Throne III (which DDD clearly wasnt). Great song anyway.

Nearly two months and I’m still constantly listening to it, it’s just so much stupid fun. Guess I’m keeping it at a 4.5

From afar has some great songs on it but thats the first album where they really went a little overboard on the orchestrations and whistling stuff. Still some really good riffs and songs but I'm not into it when folk metal gets into that Danny Elfman sounding realm. I was glad they cut back on that for the new album and focused more on riffs
